- All depends on specifications versus price and what you want to use it for. Some of the new units are fairly inexpensive and well loaded. Need to do full research. A refurb unit can be well worth the cost if from a reliable dealer.
- I have not shopped there for a refurbished notebook, but I have purchased several from http://www.ubid.com/, and I have also purchased used systems from http://www.dell.com/outlet/ and from http://www.gateway.com/reman/reman_landing.php?seg=hm&rdr=v996
- I totally agree with "Laid Back'. It must be from a reputable dealer. Research the company selling the computer. Get customer reviews from independent web sights. Most "refurbished" computer companies DO NOT warranty the battery, and you must buy the computer with the knowledge that the battery might have to be replaced by you, so make sure the price reduction will allow you to buy a battery if necessary. Personally, I feel that the best place to purchase a laptop is a electronics store like a Best Buy, Circuit City, etc, and purchase the extended warranty, simply because the parts for a laptop are so expensive. Good Luck.
- nothing wrong with second hand. Shop around and get a good warranty and you should be fine.
- I'm using a refurbished Dell laptop that was refurbished by Dell. It works just as good as a new one and cost a lot less. Make sure you get one from a manufacturer.
- Find a reputable dealer, close by that honors warranty and service. I've had one before and it worked great.
